With the raise of the PC platform games for it became quite popular. Many titles were released in between the end 1980ies and the mid 1990ies before other computer platforms and consoles became more popular and the DOS superseded.

For game titles like Lion King or Robin Hood the DOSBox is often a very convenient solution as it allows easy exchange of data with the host platform (eases installation in many cases) and does not require to run a more complex emulator like QEMU or virtual machine with DOS version installed to it.
