Who	I'm Neil Dickson, I'm a Curatorial Assistant with the McLean Museum and Archivist with the Council.
What	I preserve, conserve and nuture the heritage of Inverclyde. I'm here to ensure that history and heritage of Inverclyde remains accessible to the widest audience as possible and remains accessible for generations to come. We provide a excellent community driven service.
Why	Think about the value you hold to some of your objects at home, like a sentimental photograph, something you would never throw out because it holds a value. We aim to do this on a regional level. Basically, without the staff employed at the Museum and the Archive then the docuemntary history of the region would lost and forgotten. The stories and history of the people would be forgotten.
Goal	The problem is that with the growing collection of digital records that people have, we currently struggle to manage these memories of the region as we are relatively new to the preservation of digital material. We have no techical experts working with us. We would be doing a disservice to the people of the region if we couldn't effectively ensure their preservation. Think about that sentimental photograph. If it was digital, think about how easily you could lose it. It would be gone for ever. We need to ensure we have the staff and expertise to deal with these problems.
