Community Owned digital Preservation Tool Registry

This community owned site supports users in finding digital preservation tools, and sharing their experiences of using them. To contribute: simply sign up for a new account, login using the link at the top of this page, and start creating new tool entries or enhancing existing entries. Please note that this is only a demonstration of what a fully functioning COPTR site might look like!
Please note that this is only a demonstration of what a fully functioning COPTR site might look like! There are only 3 tool entries for now. Before COPTR is launched it will be populated with data collated from other registries and tool lists.

  • Archivematica — Archivematica is a free and open-source digital preservation system that is designed to maintain standards-based, long-term access to collections of digital objects.
  • MIXED — MIXED (Migration to Intermediate XML for Electronic Data) is a web service that converts tabular data files such as spreadsheets and databases to the Standard Data Format for Preservation (SDFP), a supplier-independent XML format. It is also able to reverse the conversion, migrating SDFP files to service-dependent formats.
  • Pagelyzer — Suite of tools for detecting changes in web pages and their rendering

Create a new tool registry entry

  1. This is a demonstrator only! Don't add any entries yet!
  2. Review these Guidelines for contributing to COPTR
  3. Sign up for a new account, and then login using the link at the top of this page
  4. Make sure the tool you want to add isn't already featured in COPTR. If it is, consider enhancing the existing entry.
  5. Follow this link, and fill out the template.
  6. Don't forget to tag your tool entry by adding labels in the box at the bottom of the edit page, and remove the "untagged" label. Follow existing tag conventions by looking at similar tools first or by checking out *this guide*.
  7. Please don't change the structure of your tool page. If you have feedback on the structure, please let us know.
